Myth: A Website Is Expensive
You probably think that it costs a whole packet of hard earned cash to get yourself a website. After all you’ve seen other people make pathetic attempts to build their website, and you are thinking that if that’s what their website is like, why would you want to do business with them?

Major corporations can spend huge amounts of money on fancy websites with all the bells and whistles - but does it really help them increase business?

Then there’s small business owners that get their nephew or grandchild to build a website. Yes, they can also look very good, to the human eye, but are totally useless to search engines.

How To Transfer Webmail Emails

Friday, January 4th, 2008

We searched the internet looking to find out how to transfer all the emails that were in a webmail account.

A client asked that we transfer their website from one hosting company to another, and they rely heavily on using webmail to access their emails when they are away from their office

They’ve been using “Horde” and there’s no reason why the same system should not work for “Squirelmail”. There’s lots of forums that say you cannot import your emails from a webmail account.

This is how we transfer webmail to Outlook Express

1. Go to Outlook express
2. Set Up a new identity
3. Follow prompts
3. Select IMAP as incoming mail server ( not POP )
4. Continue prompts

How hard is that? !!!!!!

All your emails will be sucked in from your webmail account. This includes your sent items and draft items. You’ll need to set it up for each different webmail account.

Our client is now happy that they have not lost the email database caused by moving their website from one hosting company to another. They could import their webmail emails, transferring all their emails from “Horde” to their Outlook Express Account on their Windows PC.

What about Mac? Maybe somebody else has the answer and give us some feedback

hope that helps!

Do You Want People To Find Your Website?

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Unless your website is really only an online company brochure then don’t you want people to find your website?

So if you’ve had a website for a while, and it’s not bringing in much traffic - go back and have a read through the text. When writing text for your website, it’s important that you make mention of your location whenever you can without it sounding silly

For instance we have clients who are bookkeepers located in Australia’s Playground. Queensland’s Gold Coast, the tourist capital of Australia is also home to a local Gold Coast bookkeeping business. They have bookkeepers servicing clients from Beenleigh and beyond in the North, down to Coolangatta and across the Queensland border into Northern New South Wales. So when people go searching for Gold Coast Bookkeeping, or mobile bookkeepers based in the Gold Coast, they are led here

Also you need to talk specifically about your business - your points of difference, and your USP. When writing try and think like a potential client - what would they be looking for on your website - and why your website rather than any other website
