She’s very happy with the way her website looks. And her friends are impressed with her website.
Only One Problem
The website has generated no business.
That’s why she asked us for a free website appraisal - the only problem was that she wasn’t ready to hear what we had to say. “I don’t like your sh*tty website”, she told us! “I like my website”
That’s fine, but how much business has your nice looking website generated? The “sh*itty” website that you refer to generated over $150,000 in the first twelve months, without any paid advertising!
We suggested she go and find a website designer / developer to help her with her “nice looking website”
Three months later she comes back to us:
I would really like you to help with our internet business development and marketing - on your terms - ie re-vamp existing website, build new one etc etc
Hope you accept this tail-between-the-legs request for your help??

A client approached us asking what we could do to improve his website traffic. His website was established over five years ago, and he changes the content from time to time.
He is selling to a very competitive market - there are only around twenty one million other sites that refer to the same subject - we can reduce that to about four million by being slightly more specific.
The fundamental problem was the content of his website - a simple keyword analysis of the content revealed that the leading keywords were nothing to do with what our client was wanting to promote on his website
We changed the content of the text only slightly, and it completely transformed the density of relevant keywords for hs website
Have you ever wondered why your website is not generating the traffic that you beleive it should? Many websites are built by website gurus who can jazz around with programming codes, and may be masters of various web development software - but how many of them really understand what marketing is all about?
Come to think of it, how many website developers really care whether your website produces results or generates new business? They get paid for building a website, not for developing your business.
There’s some very talented graphic artists that can create wonderfully looking websites - but do they generate income for the business owner?
If your website is not generating new business and you want it to, then contact us now for a free appraisal of your website

Unless your website is really only an online company brochure then don’t you want people to find your website?
So if you’ve had a website for a while, and it’s not bringing in much traffic - go back and have a read through the text. When writing text for your website, it’s important that you make mention of your location whenever you can without it sounding silly
For instance we have clients who are bookkeepers located in Australia’s Playground. Queensland’s Gold Coast, the tourist capital of Australia is also home to a local Gold Coast bookkeeping business. They have bookkeepers servicing clients from Beenleigh and beyond in the North, down to Coolangatta and across the Queensland border into Northern New South Wales. So when people go searching for Gold Coast Bookkeeping, or mobile bookkeepers based in the Gold Coast, they are led here
Also you need to talk specifically about your business - your points of difference, and your USP. When writing try and think like a potential client - what would they be looking for on your website - and why your website rather than any other website

We’ve built, managed and maintained websites for a number of years, and continue to see an increase in traffic volume. More importantly, we’ve seen an increase in business volume as a consequence.
In late January 2007, we built a website for a jeweller client who understands how websites can help increase business turnover. An increase in website traffic each month is a great start, but if it doesn’t convert to an increase in the bottom line, then what has really been achieved.
Building Results Focused Websites
Many businesses engage graphic artists and web site designers who may be excellent in producing beautiful works of art, and if that’s all the client wants, then that’s fantastic.
We’ll follow behind web designers and DIY website builders who have “gotton by” doing what they were doing, but not creating the results that the client was looking for with their websites.
We’ve been building, upgrading, and revamping websites for a number of years with excellent feedback from our clients because we are results focused
If you need a website that gets results, or you are thinking about upgrading your website, then contact us now
If you don’t know where your traffic is coming from, or why people are going to your website, or what they are looking for, then your website is not going to be as effective for you. Ensuring our clients can get the reports that you need from your website is an important factor in keeping your business on track. So if you don’t know what your website is doing for you, then contact us now

Is Your Website An Asset Or a Liability? - By Nick Yorchak (c) 2007
Remember back in the good ol’ days when having a website was something every company needed and wanted? Websites were the wave of the future, and the dream of transitioning to conducting business online filled our heads with visions of a revolution in the way commerce was conducted.
With a website, a company could reach clients and interact with potential customers on a global scale. A website was indicative of a company’s technological prowess, symbolic of the desire to innovate and evolve with developments in the industry. (more…)

We built a website for a client at the end of January - This graph shows how site traffic volume has increased each month.
Many clients sit back waiting for the phone to ring once they’ve got a website. Ask yourself this question: What is your website asking visitors to do? Is there a call to action?
If you do not ask your visitors to do anything, and the phone doesn’t ring, then you’ve got exactly the result that you asked for! On the other hand, if there is some “Call to Action” and your phone doesn’t ring, then there could be a number of reasons.
When I meet new clients I ask them how many people they’ve given out their phone number to. It may be hundreds, it may only be a handful. The point is, that you can have the best website in the world, but if nobody knows about it, then what’s the point?
You could have an increase in website traffic as shown in the graph, but if you are still not getting an increase in sales, then again, what’s the point?
If your website is not getting the results that you want, then contact us and we’ll find some solutions

So you’ve spent thousands of dollars and endless hours working with your website developer - It looks fantastic, it’s got all the latest “bells and whistles”, but here’s the question: How Effective Is Your Website?
When we ask that of potential clients, they look as though we’ve asked them a personal question. No, a real personal question!
These days it seems many business owners are rushing out to get a website, just as everyone is rushing out to get themselves an MP3 player. “What do you need an MP3 player for?”
- Well, everyone else has got one!
-Yes, but what do you do with it?
-It looks great, and it fits in my pocket, here, look!
- Yes, but what’s it for?
- I got a great deal on it, and you can choose what ever colour
-Yes, but what’s it for?
- No idea, but they are all the rage!!
Is it any different for some people that have a website?
We put together a checklist for our clients to work through in order to ascertain their exact requirements for a website. If you don’t know why or what you want yur webiste to do, how do you know if you’ve achieved the result you were hoping for?

Our client was approahed by a web development company wanting to buy their domain name. The website has been operating for a number of years, and receives a steady flow of traffic. Our client asked what we thought would be a reasonable price to sell the domain name.
“Isn’t the domain name also your business name?” Well, yes it is. “So you do want to sell your business?” No, they did not.
“Well, put in a silly price, and see what they say!” So the client did just that and got a response at half the price. It was a case of take it or leave it for the potential purchaser, but the important thing is that negotiations had started.
After some swapping of emails and a number of telephone conversations, the deal was getting closer to being finalised.
If you are thinking of abandoning your domain name , then contact us

A client has recently opened his restaurant at the northern end of Australia’s Gold Coast.
It’s in a beautiful setting next to a conservation area placid lake and trees overlooking a spectacular golf course. The owner told me that his restaurant is the perfect location for breakfast lunch or dinner, with fantastic fresh European cuisine. Every Sunday apparently they provide the most fantastic breakfasts starting at 7am, and are open all day
You can sit and relax on their magnificent deck overlooking the Lake, Golf Course and their own special group of kangaroos.
We’ve started the website, and getting it linked in the search engines
Update
After a few weeks the website was getting excellent serach engine rankings, but the owner still had not paid his bill
As time went by, and we pushed for payment for the work that he had done, he kept on telling us that he would get around to it. We discussed a contra deal, and things started to look up. We were planning a Christmas Function. However, there were more pressing matters for the restaurant. First there was Fathers Day to prepare for. Then Indy was coming up at Surfers Paradise - it would be a huge weekend. Then the Melbourne Cup lunch - would it be on or off - Threatened by the equinine horse flu things were not looking good.
Latest Update
Finally it was getting very close to Christmas - and they still hadn’t come up with a price for our function. Anyway, [according to the client] the website wasn’t really bringing in much business for them, so he wasn’t in a real hurry to pay.
We could all see where this was going - that’s what happens when you try and help struggling businesses get going - they never get going enough to pay their bills. Since [in the clients words] the website wasn’t really making much difference to their business, we closed it down
Suddenly the phone was ringing, we were being sent strongly worded emails, and lawyers were being consulted.
“You can’t shut down our website - you can’t tell people the site has been suspended because the account hasn’t been paid!” Why not? Has the bill been paid? - No!!
Oh, Ok. Suddenly the website is worth something - to the extent of $7000 apparently. Well, pay the bill!
“I’ll pay the bill if you restore the website” Ok, so we did that. Then suddenly the website being closed was going to set back the restaurant $70,000 in lost business. “You’ve shut the website down at the busiest time of year - what are you doing? Trying to send us broke?”
Maybe we missed something here, because the bill still hasn’t been paid. But apparently the restaurant is looking at losing $70,000. If you were in that position, surely you’d beg, borrow, or do whatever you needed to do to come up with a few hundred bucks to restore your website, wouldn’t you?
The crazy thing is that all that work in achieving high search engine rankings, good traffic flow, and new leads for the restaurant, has been destroyed, because they won’t pay a lousy few hundred dollars.

A common question is “How much money should I spend on advertising?” Many small businesses set out full of enthusiasm having launched a new business. There’s no money left in the kitty, and there’s not much cash coming into the business. (more…)
