Read why Bookkeepers Need A Bookkeeping Website for your bookeeping business

Create your own Bookkeeping business web space in our Bookkeepers Directory of Book keepersWhen individuals are surfing the internet, they are looking for specific information. No longer do you need to go to the library and spend hours trying to find the correct book to give you the information your are looking for.

No longer do you have to go to the bookcase or cupboard or shelf to look for yellow pages, all the details are now online. So when a business owner or manager goes looking for a Bookkeeper or a Bookkeeping Service, where do you think is the first place they will look?

More and more people are going shopping online, they are researching products and businesses on the internet. If you’re a bookkeeper and operate a bookkeeping service without a web site then you are missing out on business.

Myth: A Website Is Expensive
You probably think that it costs a whole packet of hard earned cash to get yourself a website. After all you’ve seen other people make pathetic attempts to build their website, and you are thinking that if that’s what their website is like, why would you want to do business with them?

Major corporations can spend huge amounts of money on fancy websites with all the bells and whistles - but does it really help them increase business?

Then there’s small business owners that get their nephew or grandchild to build a website. Yes, they can also look very good, to the human eye, but are totally useless to search engines.

How To Transfer Webmail Emails

Friday, January 4th, 2008

We searched the internet looking to find out how to transfer all the emails that were in a webmail account.

A client asked that we transfer their website from one hosting company to another, and they rely heavily on using webmail to access their emails when they are away from their office

They’ve been using “Horde” and there’s no reason why the same system should not work for “Squirelmail”. There’s lots of forums that say you cannot import your emails from a webmail account.

This is how we transfer webmail to Outlook Express

1. Go to Outlook express
2. Set Up a new identity
3. Follow prompts
3. Select IMAP as incoming mail server ( not POP )
4. Continue prompts

How hard is that? !!!!!!

All your emails will be sucked in from your webmail account. This includes your sent items and draft items. You’ll need to set it up for each different webmail account.

Our client is now happy that they have not lost the email database caused by moving their website from one hosting company to another. They could import their webmail emails, transferring all their emails from “Horde” to their Outlook Express Account on their Windows PC.

What about Mac? Maybe somebody else has the answer and give us some feedback

hope that helps!

Getting Results from Websites

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Getting Results from Websites through increasing website trafficWe’ve built, managed and maintained websites for a number of years, and continue to see an increase in traffic volume. More importantly, we’ve seen an increase in business volume as a consequence.

In late January 2007, we built a website for a jeweller client who understands how websites can help increase business turnover. An increase in website traffic each month is a great start, but if it doesn’t convert to an increase in the bottom line, then what has really been achieved.

Building Results Focused Websites

Many businesses engage graphic artists and web site designers who may be excellent in producing beautiful works of art, and if that’s all the client wants, then that’s fantastic.

We’ll follow behind web designers and DIY website builders who have “gotton by” doing what they were doing, but not creating the results that the client was looking for with their websites.

We’ve been building, upgrading, and revamping websites for a number of years with excellent feedback from our clients because we are results focused

If you need a website that gets results, or you are thinking about upgrading your website, then contact us now

If you don’t know where your traffic is coming from, or why people are going to your website, or what they are looking for, then your website is not going to be as effective for you. Ensuring our clients can get the reports that you need from your website is an important factor in keeping your business on track. So if you don’t know what your website is doing for you, then contact us now

Building a Quick Small Business Website

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

These days it doesn’t cost much to build a quick small business website.

There’s plenty of free templates available on the interent, and buying a domain name now only costs a few dollars

Our client wanted an inexpensive website to get him started. So after registering a domain name, organising web hosting, he’s up and running.

Better than a website, you can get yourself a content management website, so you can add stuff, edit stuff, and change stuff whenever you like, and not have to wait for your web designer to do it when they have some spare time.

The next step is to build a Squidoo Lens about your small business. You can list your products and services, and hours of operation.

The challenge that most small businesses have is finding time to update their blog. We offer a service to overcome that problem contact us for more information

With an increase of online shopping, and the versatility of websites, it’s little surprise that more bookkeepers now have their own websites.

A professional looking website with excellent web design increases your credibility as a book keeper. Web sites have created a level playing field for book keepers that work on their own, and large bookkeeping firms. (more…)

What Is The True Value of a Website?

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Our client was approahed by a web development company wanting to buy their domain name. The website has been operating for a number of years, and receives a steady flow of traffic. Our client asked what we thought would be a reasonable price to sell the domain name.

“Isn’t the domain name also your business name?” Well, yes it is. “So you do want to sell your business?” No, they did not.

“Well, put in a silly price, and see what they say!” So the client did just that and got a response at half the price. It was a case of take it or leave it for the potential purchaser, but the important thing is that negotiations had started.

After some swapping of emails and a number of telephone conversations, the deal was getting closer to being finalised.

If you are thinking of abandoning your domain name , then contact us

Can You Build A Cheap Website?

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Just like all our clients, George asked us if we can knock up a “Cheap” website! Well, the short answer is “yes” we can, but why not get your six year old kid / grandkid to do it instead.

These days there’s so much cheap software and free web templates available, that anyone can “knock up” a website. Just have a quick surf and see for yourself.

Business owners know that they want a website, know they need a website, and believe they have no money to pay for a website (more…)

Can You Fix My Website?

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Yes I can fix your website. What seems to be the problem?
- Well, no one knows about it
Why not? I ask
- I paid this wonderful graphic designer lots of money for a fancy website that has not produced any results

This is not an uncommon telephone call that we have with new clients. On close inspection of the website, they are actually very succesful in what they set out to achieve.

Websites often get no response, because that’s exactly what they’e asked the visitor to do! Nothing.
