There seems to be a plethora of online-shopping cart systems available in cyberspace. Have you noticed that they all look so easy to build?
Have your online store up and running in five minutes
Yep, right!! That’s if you’re an expert in building websites, or you have skills in HTML or a degree in something to do with computer programming. It seems that the people that make those claims forget that the average “Joe” has enough skills to send an email, search google for online shopping carts - but little more than that.
That’s why clients come to us asking us to help them build an online store for their websites. They may be florists wanting an online store, or a jeweller wanting to sell products online, or a beauty business wanting to sell their products.
We’ve got clients who sell fruit teas in different flavours online, clients who need an online shopping cart for selling various coffee products. Clients who are in the business of supplying products for celebrations and parties, selling balloons, party plates napkins, banners and all sorts of party products through an online shopping cart

She’s very happy with the way her website looks. And her friends are impressed with her website.
Only One Problem
The website has generated no business.
That’s why she asked us for a free website appraisal - the only problem was that she wasn’t ready to hear what we had to say. “I don’t like your sh*tty website”, she told us! “I like my website”
That’s fine, but how much business has your nice looking website generated? The “sh*itty” website that you refer to generated over $150,000 in the first twelve months, without any paid advertising!
We suggested she go and find a website designer / developer to help her with her “nice looking website”
Three months later she comes back to us:
I would really like you to help with our internet business development and marketing - on your terms - ie re-vamp existing website, build new one etc etc
Hope you accept this tail-between-the-legs request for your help??
HTML Anchor Tag: <A> and </A>
The Anchor tag is used for defining hypertext links and can incorporate a range of attibutes, of which only the NAME or HREF attribute is mandatory. The main attributes are listed below.
HREF: The HREF attribute indicates either the URL of the destination page or another anchor in the same document. If the HREF attribute is present the text between the opening and closing elements is designated as a hyperlink, which when “clicked” by the user, will invoke the web page defined by the URL or will go to the appropriate document anchor. A client approached us asking what we could do to improve his website traffic. His website was established over five years ago, and he changes the content from time to time.
He is selling to a very competitive market - there are only around twenty one million other sites that refer to the same subject - we can reduce that to about four million by being slightly more specific.
The fundamental problem was the content of his website - a simple keyword analysis of the content revealed that the leading keywords were nothing to do with what our client was wanting to promote on his website
We changed the content of the text only slightly, and it completely transformed the density of relevant keywords for hs website
Have you ever wondered why your website is not generating the traffic that you beleive it should? Many websites are built by website gurus who can jazz around with programming codes, and may be masters of various web development software - but how many of them really understand what marketing is all about?
Come to think of it, how many website developers really care whether your website produces results or generates new business? They get paid for building a website, not for developing your business.
There’s some very talented graphic artists that can create wonderfully looking websites - but do they generate income for the business owner?
If your website is not generating new business and you want it to, then contact us now for a free appraisal of your website
Read why Bookkeepers Need A Bookkeeping Website for your bookeeping business
When individuals are surfing the internet, they are looking for specific information. No longer do you need to go to the library and spend hours trying to find the correct book to give you the information your are looking for.
No longer do you have to go to the bookcase or cupboard or shelf to look for yellow pages, all the details are now online. So when a business owner or manager goes looking for a Bookkeeper or a Bookkeeping Service, where do you think is the first place they will look?
More and more people are going shopping online, they are researching products and businesses on the internet. If you’re a bookkeeper and operate a bookkeeping service without a web site then you are missing out on business.
Myth: A Website Is Expensive
You probably think that it costs a whole packet of hard earned cash to get yourself a website. After all you’ve seen other people make pathetic attempts to build their website, and you are thinking that if that’s what their website is like, why would you want to do business with them?
Major corporations can spend huge amounts of money on fancy websites with all the bells and whistles - but does it really help them increase business?
Then there’s small business owners that get their nephew or grandchild to build a website. Yes, they can also look very good, to the human eye, but are totally useless to search engines.
Build a Bookkeeper Web Site For Free
The Bookkeepers and Bookkeeping Services Directory offers you a free business listing, and you can use a simple WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) text editing page to create your own web page.
See an example web page here
You can direct people to your bookkeeping webpage. You can edit the page and add photos any time that you like. To make it easy for you, there’s a users guide that you can download.
If you are having trouble in developing your bookkeeper web site, and you need help in creating your webspace simply contact us, and we’ll help you (for a small fee)
We searched the internet looking to find out how to transfer all the emails that were in a webmail account.
A client asked that we transfer their website from one hosting company to another, and they rely heavily on using webmail to access their emails when they are away from their office
They’ve been using “Horde” and there’s no reason why the same system should not work for “Squirelmail”. There’s lots of forums that say you cannot import your emails from a webmail account.
This is how we transfer webmail to Outlook Express
1. Go to Outlook express
2. Set Up a new identity
3. Follow prompts
3. Select IMAP as incoming mail server ( not POP )
4. Continue prompts
How hard is that? !!!!!!
All your emails will be sucked in from your webmail account. This includes your sent items and draft items. You’ll need to set it up for each different webmail account.
Our client is now happy that they have not lost the email database caused by moving their website from one hosting company to another. They could import their webmail emails, transferring all their emails from “Horde” to their Outlook Express Account on their Windows PC.
What about Mac? Maybe somebody else has the answer and give us some feedback
hope that helps!
Unless your website is really only an online company brochure then don’t you want people to find your website?
So if you’ve had a website for a while, and it’s not bringing in much traffic - go back and have a read through the text. When writing text for your website, it’s important that you make mention of your location whenever you can without it sounding silly
For instance we have clients who are bookkeepers located in Australia’s Playground. Queensland’s Gold Coast, the tourist capital of Australia is also home to a local Gold Coast bookkeeping business. They have bookkeepers servicing clients from Beenleigh and beyond in the North, down to Coolangatta and across the Queensland border into Northern New South Wales. So when people go searching for Gold Coast Bookkeeping, or mobile bookkeepers based in the Gold Coast, they are led here
Also you need to talk specifically about your business - your points of difference, and your USP. When writing try and think like a potential client - what would they be looking for on your website - and why your website rather than any other website
Many bookkeepers and bookkeeping services are looking for new clients, and have a limited budget to advertise. Similarly many business owners are wanting a bookkeeper and have found newspaper advertising to be ineffective.
Hence the need for a Directory of Bookkeepers and Bookkeeping Services. Here business owners who are looking for bookkeepers can advertise a job vacant. Bookkeepers who are looking for work can advertise your business. Its a win-win for everybody
We’ve built, managed and maintained websites for a number of years, and continue to see an increase in traffic volume. More importantly, we’ve seen an increase in business volume as a consequence.
In late January 2007, we built a website for a jeweller client who understands how websites can help increase business turnover. An increase in website traffic each month is a great start, but if it doesn’t convert to an increase in the bottom line, then what has really been achieved.
Building Results Focused Websites
Many businesses engage graphic artists and web site designers who may be excellent in producing beautiful works of art, and if that’s all the client wants, then that’s fantastic.
We’ll follow behind web designers and DIY website builders who have “gotton by” doing what they were doing, but not creating the results that the client was looking for with their websites.
We’ve been building, upgrading, and revamping websites for a number of years with excellent feedback from our clients because we are results focused
If you need a website that gets results, or you are thinking about upgrading your website, then contact us now
If you don’t know where your traffic is coming from, or why people are going to your website, or what they are looking for, then your website is not going to be as effective for you. Ensuring our clients can get the reports that you need from your website is an important factor in keeping your business on track. So if you don’t know what your website is doing for you, then contact us now
Is Your Website An Asset Or a Liability? - By Nick Yorchak (c) 2007
Remember back in the good ol’ days when having a website was something every company needed and wanted? Websites were the wave of the future, and the dream of transitioning to conducting business online filled our heads with visions of a revolution in the way commerce was conducted.
With a website, a company could reach clients and interact with potential customers on a global scale. A website was indicative of a company’s technological prowess, symbolic of the desire to innovate and evolve with developments in the industry. Read the rest of this entry »
