Your website should be an integral part of your marketing plan. It should reflect any advertising strategies that you have in place, and should not be treated as an “after thought†or an annoying thing that “has to be doneâ€
-
1. Do you have a marketing plan?
- 2. Do you have any successful advertising copy / brochures ?
- 3. Do you have a “sales manual†?
- 4. Can we incorporate them into the website?
- 5. Have you any testimonies from clients?
- 6. Any Success stories?
- 7. In simple words what is your product?
- 8. Any FAQ’s
- 9. Any video footage?
- 10. Any audio material?
- 11. Competitors website that you like? Why?
- 12. Competitors website that you DO NOT like? Why not?
- 13. Do you have any electronic products to give away? (reports / information)
- 14. Can we set up some automated responses?
- 15. Do you require regular ongoing changes to the website?
The website should become a “live†interface between the company and potential clients.
When the telephone rings at the office, your receptionist answers the phone and (we assume) tries to ascertain
- 1) who is calling
- 2) what do they want
- 3) and who should they speak to
The website should look at achieving a similar outcome:
- 1) what is the visitor looking for when they find your website?
- 2) You need to ascertain who the visitor is by asking for contact details
- 3) You need to give them a COMPELLING reason to give you those details
You have less than 30 seconds before they’ve gone … may be FOR EVER !!
How does your BEST SALESPERSON make cold calls? How does he/she approach a prospective client?
If your client was BOMBARDED with a whole range of products, you would probably end up with a negative result
Each web page should Clearly and Specifically identify ONE PRODUCT, because that is the reason the visitor is there. The visitor is looking for the RIGHT information, and they want it quickly and concisely
Only then, do they want the details
Just like when you go to a hardware shop to buy a drill. You don’t want a drill, you want a hole (in your wall or wherever) Why do people want your product?
So we need to reflect that on the website
Unless, you just want a website that is a company brochure, like all the other company brochures that are never read by anyone
What do your website visitors want?
They want to know that others have been there before them. They want to know what other clients have experienced. They want to see testimonies
They want to know that they are dealing with professionals
They want to know that THEY NEED TO CONTACT YOU
Imagine you’re at a BBQ and someone asks what you do. Your next few words will either kill the conversation, or you’ll intrigue the other person. You have less than 30 seconds to keep their attention
This is how your website should be
